Galore - "Field Trip"
Here are Look At My Records!, we love jangly tunes. We’ve reiterated this sentiment time and time again. Hell, I basically only listen to “Turn! Turn! Turn!” and “Eight Miles High” exclusively. I’m only kidding, but there’s no doubt that the Byrds get regular and frequent spins on my turntable. So, it’s not a surprise that our latest obsession is another Bay Area band that’s very in touch with our favorite guitar tone. Galore knows how to make their guitars ring out into the glorious California sunshine, which is evident in their radiant new single, “Field Trip.”
On “Field Trip,” Galore perfectly captures the thrill of spontaneous summer escapades—golden evenings, lazy roads, and the timeless high of offgrid adventures with friends The guitars ring out with a bright, Byrdsian clarity, while the vocals—courtesy of Griffin Jones and Ava Rosen—float lazily over the mix, drenched in a hazy warmth that recalls early Real Estate or even a splash of Marine Girls. There's a looseness here that makes it feel like it could fall apart at any moment—but never does. Instead, it coasts effortlessly, like a car ride with nowhere particular to be.
