The McKenzie Tapes is a digital archive that houses an expansive collection of live cassette recordings from several prominent New York City-area venues.  The web archive is curated by the host and founder of Look At My Records!, Tom Gallo.

The collection itself was recorded by Dave McKenzie, a Kearny, NJ-native and former Maxwell's employee.  It spans mostly from 1985 to 1993 and includes shows from legendary area venues, including Maxwell’s in Hoboken, The Ritz, Irving Plaza, City Gardens in Trenton, and more.  Each cassette in the series is posted on the anniversary of the live performance that it captures. The posts also include a contextualizo ha text and any documentation contained within the cassette case, which typically includes Village Voice ads, ticket stubs, set lists, original photos, and more.
