Nite Music - “I’ve Got To Make The Call Pt. 2”
Brooklyn’s Nite Music are students of rock n’ roll. Frontman Jamie Frey has an appreciation for the classics. The Stones. Springsteen. The Replacements. Basically, anything that’ll give you a good, full-throated kick in the teeth. Their boundless energy flows through their songs, whether it’s the ramshackle vigor of “Shit City” or the spirited plea of “Never Let You Go.” And of course, their sound has just the right amount of dirt and grime that only a bona fide New York City-bred band can possess. But even by their own standards, the brand new tune blows through the ceiling.
Their latest release, “I’ve Got To Make The Call Pt. 2,” is a supercharged version of their debut single. Like the original recording, the song describes the feeling of longing for connection in what can seem like a deeply impersonal city. The chorus surges, anchored by Frey’s charismatic voice and gritty, intense guitar playing. Nite Music recruited some standout locals for the track; Maria Lina of Frida Kill provides some great backing vocals, Shipla Ray brings the thunder on keys, and Kate Mohanty kills it on saxophone, giving the track some serious downtown, no wave flavor.
