Absolutely Yours - "Walked In The Garden"

Absolutely Yours has always stood out in the over-saturated dream pop/shoegaze genre. Their 2020 record, Natural Wonder, was full of spellbinding songs that glistened and gleamed in the glow of nostalgia-drenched guitars and woozy soundscapes. Since then, the project has fully transitioned to the sole vision of front person Bridget Collins, who now calls Minneapolis home. The change in locale hasn’t stopped her penchant for the dreamy and ethereal, as evidenced by the gorgeous seven tracks on the latest Absolutely Yours full-length, Mirror Maze. 

The album’s lead track, “Walked In The Garden,” is heavenly on multiple levels. Aside from a subtle nod to the biblical Garden of Eden (the streaming visuals prominently feature Collins picking and holding the infamous apple), the song boasts a celestial guitar-driven ambiance. This twinkling and hazy guitar work helps set the mood for the forlorn lyrical subject matter, which expounds on the pain and ambivalence of waning affection.
