LAPÊCHE - “Christmastime”

LAPÊCHE - “Christmastime”

Following the positive reception to their cover of The Pretenders’ “2000 Miles” in 2021, Brooklyn’s Lapeche have shared another festive holiday cover with their rendition of “Christmastime.” The song, which was written and performed by the Smashing Pumpkins for the 1997 benefit compilation A Very Special Christmas 3, gets a fresh, unique interpretation from the Brooklyn outfit. While the Billy Corgan version was decked out with bells, woodwinds, and strings, Lapeche takes a more charming, traditional band-centric approach in this new interpretation. Guitars, bass, and drums supplant the original orchestration with Krista Diem’s vocals playing a festive starting role.

Look out for more LAPÊCHE soon; they’re currently working on their next album with Grammy-nominated producer and engineer Alex Newport (City & Colour, Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In). Stay in the know by following them on Instagram. You can also listen to “Christmastime” on Bandcamp + all streaming platforms.
