Underground System - "He Said, She Said"

Today, Underground System is unleashing the video for “He Said, She Said,” the second and final single from their new EP, Into The Fire. The high-energy outfit will be sharing the EP tomorrow via Brooklyn imprint Razor-N-Tape. In addition to “He Said, She Said,” the six-song release includes two other originals and accompanying remixes from French maestro Yuksek, and Detroit legend Dez Andres.

“He Saide, She Said” is quite the danceable tune, as it kicks off with an irresistible combination of percussion and guitars and then proceeds to move at a lightning-quick pace, barreling through bursts of little noodly riffs and bright horns. Lying underneath it all is a groove that’s guaranteed to get your body moving. Mixing Spanish and English lyrics throughout, the song delves into how it’s best to sometimes extinguish old flames instead of rehabilitating them: “Sometimes you just gotta say “bye!” Like an old flip-flop that has no more use in your life; don’t put tape around it, just throw it in the garbage,” says vocalist/flutist/percussionist Domenica Fossati. “This song is about throwing out the trash. The romantic relationships that ran their course and no longer allow you to thrive. Sometimes they want to come back, and you just gotta say “Nah, I’m good, thanks. Have a nice day” Then enjoy the moment with a nice mezcal at your favorite bar with your favorite people.”

In keeping with the themes of the song, the fun video follows Underground System frontperson Domenica as she hosts a game show that features a series of problematic daters out with some unsuspecting counterparts. Guitarist Matson described the video as capturing those “routine eye-rolling encounters and relationship issues oft experienced during a typical night out.” Yeah, we’ve all definitely been there.
