Space Sluts - “Side Bitch”

We’re excited to premiere “Side Bitch,” the brand new single from Brooklyn’s Space Sluts. The project of musician Madi Cox (Shelter Dogs) released their debut single, “St. v,” last July. It’s a track that saw Cox exploring new thematic territory and a wholly different sound, as she combined lyrics that explored a fraught relationship with poppy, electronic instrumentation. She further experiments with this combination on her latest effort with dazzling results. 

“Side Bitch” is futuristic and synth-driven, sounding exactly like the kind of music that prior generations imagined we’d be making in 2021. Starting off with an inviting acapella intro, the track then descends into a flurry of effect-laden vocals, punchy percussion, and saturated synths. The song moves at a brisk pace from the jump and is rhythmically captivating, making it quite catchy and danceable, but Cox once again strikes a nice contrast with the lyrics, which confront an ex-lover for their past transgressions. Cox shared: “Have you ever found out your 'partner' was having another relationship behind your back? Side Bitch is a catchy bop confronting your cheating ex-lover and their infidelities in an upbeat synth-pop fashion.” Taking it all in, “Side Bitch” feels like an emotional release, one where Cox lets her feelings of frustration and betrayal flow through the song’s lightning-fast beat and confessional lyrics.
