The Convenience - “Accelerator (Pts I + II)”

The Convenience - “Accelerator (Pts I + II)”

Earlier this week, The Convenience shared a video for their latest single, “Accelerator (Pts I + II)” and announced their signing with Winspear, the label home of some of our favorites like Keven Krauter and Slow Pulp. The New Orleans-based duo of Duncan Troast and Nick Corson are set to release their debut full-length, Accelerator, on October 21st.  It’s their first release since their debut EP, which dropped back in 2018.

Maybe it’s just because I’ve been spinning Welcome 2 America a whole lot over the past two weeks, but The Convenience definitely possess the ability to bring the funk in a Prince-like manner. “Accelerator (Pts I + II)” is built off of grooves so deep and infectious that your dance moves may become involuntary. Flowing alongside are pulsing synths and bursts of chirring guitar lines, but the low ends and infectious beat are definitely what propels the song forward. The energy levels remain quite high for the majority of the track’s runtime, but things definitely mellow in the closing minute, allowing listeners to exhale after a wild ride. The accompanying video moves at a brisk clip and features lots of dancing, quick cuts to the band fooling around in a laundromat, skating at a roller rink, and more. It perfectly captures the infectious, danceable energy of the song.

Watch the video below!

The track is also available on all streaming platforms. You can pre-order a copy of Accelerator on vinyl via Bandcamp. Keep up with the band by following them on Instagram.
