Triptides - “Connection”

Triptides - “Connection”

It’s no secret that Triptides are one of my favorite bands. I’ve sung their praises for years on Look At My Records! and for good reason. Principal songwriter Glenn Brigham continues to evolve and perfect his distinct brand of psychedelic pop. Since 2021’s Alter Echoes, he’s leaned into more of a refined, polish studio sound that continued to blossom on 2022’s So Many Days and 2023’s Starlight. Next month, the project is releasing their 13th studio album, Shapeshifter. The latest single, “Connection,” dropped last week.

“Connection” is a lush, slow-burn groove that rests on the laurels of a potent rhythm section. Warm Farfisa swells, motorik drums, and glimmering synth flourishes swirl together into a hypnotic mix that feels equal parts hazy sunset and late-night highway drive. Brigman’s vocals float in the haze, more like another layer of texture than a front-and-center lead, letting the track’s atmosphere do most of the talking.

It’s psych-pop with both serious pulse and patience — a steady beat keeps you anchored while the organ and guitar tones ripple out into the cosmos. “Connection” isn’t just about meeting someone; it’s about locking into a shared wavelength and riding it until time loses shape. When it fades, you’re left buzzing, like you’re still catching echoes of the moment.
