Daebull ft. HolyBrune and Dezzy Hollow - “Body Heat”
French funk artist Daebull has achieved worldwide notoriety for his ability to capture a bygone era of music. What’s the secret to his success? It’s his dedication to a natural way of doing things. His down-and-dirty, funk-soul tunes are recorded live and entirely with analog synthesizers. His latest record, Analog Love, is littered with them, and I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to see him perform several of them for the first time in the States at Brooklyn Steel back in September. He brought his frequent collaborators, HolyBrune and Dezzy Hollow, along for the ride, and they did a stunning rendition of “Body Heat,” a standout track from Analog Love.
“Body Heat” is a sultry, analog-drenched gem that pulses with vintage funk cool and modern polish. Dabeull’s live-band heritage shines through every beat, while HolyBrune and Dezzy Hollow offer vocal layers that elevate the groove. It serves as a perfect soundtrack for sun-soaked days and neon-drenched nights. The live instrumentation, analog warmth, and echoing talk-box elements evoke a retro-modern vibe, marrying ’70s P-funk nostalgia with a contemporary electro-funk sheen.
