Izzy Outerspace - "Riptide"

Izzy Outerspace makes music that’s both dreamy and driving. The project of Los Angeles by way of Switzerland songwriter Isabelle Baumgartner strikes a delicate balance in crafting dream pop that’s equal parts introspective and punctuated. Her songs are dream spaces, but also don’t shirk on deeper meaning. Latest single “Riptide” showcases Baulgarter’s full songwriting arsenal.

“Riptide” is somewhat menacing in its vibe. It’s deceptively hazy in its initial moments, but like the ocean phenomenon referenced by namesake, it quickly injects some lingering feelings of darkness. The bassline steers this aura, which builds off of the lyrical themes. Baulgarter shared the song explores “deeply feeling the things we can’t control. The ‘waiting’ is not a waiting on a person per se, but a waiting on things feeling ‘normal’ again after a life-changing event. And trying to accept that certain things won’t feel the same again.”
