Nat Vazer - "Addicted to Misery"

Melbourne, Australia's Nat Vazer makes music that’s serene, reflective, and deeply personal. Her brand new single, “Addicted To Misery,” is even more so by her standards, as she bears a little more of her soul in pursuit of her rawest performance to date.

Confessional and frank, the lyrics on “Addicted to Misery” are poignantly direct, as Vazer painstakingly describes feelings of detachment, despondency, and desperation stemming from the inability to help a loved one in need. Her words also seem to assume different perspectives, as the cutting, titular refrain of “but you can’t save me cause I’m addicted to misery,” flips the script from the verses, which come from her own frame of reference. Sonically, Vazer captures the associated swell of emotion. Patiently plucked guitars juxtapose a more subdued electronic backbeat during the song’s early stages, but when the verses kick in, this gives way to instrumentation that’s full and vibrant.

Vazer shared that “(The song catalogs) a portrait of a time of feeling low, explored through a conversational journey. It’s about feeling powerless to help the one you love and the sense of spiraling through that feeling,”

In conjunction with the single’s release, Vazer also shared a captivating video, which was directed and filmed by Benjamin Joel. Stream it below!
