Majorette - "Crockpot"

Majorette - "Crockpot"

Today, we’re excited to premiere the video for “Crockpot” by Majorette before its official release tomorrow.

Any self-respecting millennial who spent their childhood glued to the television remembers the infamous infomercial tagline “set it and forget it,” a phrase coined by late inventor and marketing personality Ron Popeil in promotion of his Showtime Rotisserie and BBQ Grill. On her latest single as Majorette, New York songwriter Danielle Salomon cleverly uses the phrase to rope listeners in, drawing on a combination of nostalgia and wit. Beyond these clear lyrical throwback cues, the music has a wonderful, old-timey charm to it. The track’s twangy guitars are quaint and charming, imbuing even more feelings of sentimentality into the essence of “Crockpot.”

The highly cinematic, black and white accompanying video was shot entirely on 16mm by cinematographer Martin Parsekian, with direction from Paul DeSilva (Wet Suit). Salomon curated all of the excellent vintage costumes in the video and also arranged the choreography. It’s an absolute delight to watch.

Stream the video below.

Majorette will be premiering the video live tomorrow (9/25) at Sundown in Ridgewood, Queens. In addition to a performance from Majorette, Blue Yonder and His Pioneers are also on the bill.

You can listen to Majorette via Spotify or Bandcamp. Be sure to follow the project on Instagram.
