Laurel Canyon - “Drop Out” b/w “Tangiers”

Laurel Canyon - “Drop Out” b/w “Tangiers”

Laurel Canyon seems to have an insatiable hunger. They’ve basically been gigging non-stop this year, gracing stages across New York City and playing their first ever shows on the West Coast, including a special one opening for Agent Orange at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles. Along the way, they found time to record their latest double single, “Drop Out” b/w “Tangiers,” which they recorded with esteemed engineer Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. We’re excited to premiere these two excellent tracks today on Look At My Records!

If you’ve spent some time with Laurel Canyon’s music, either recorded or in the live setting, then you know that Albini is a perfect fit for this rising quartet. His contributions help to breathe even more life and energy into a band that’s already full of both. “Drop Out” is a scorcher at times, but the band allows themselves space to be more melodic and tuneful, especially in the verses. The propulsive nature of “Tangiers,” which sounds sludgy and massive right from the get-go, is further evidence of Laurel Canyon’s mastery of the classic grunge sound. Their chugging riffs and sneering vocals sound natural and unforced like a poised veteran act.

Stream both songs below.

”Drop Out” and “Tangiers” will appear on the band’s forthcoming Drop Out EP, which is set for release on October 31st via. Nuclear Banana Records.

You can purchase “Drop Out” b/w “Tangiers” on Bandcamp or stream it on Spotify. Keep up with Laurel Canyon by following them on Instagram.
