Flash Trading - "Know The Answer"

We’re excited to premiere the video for “Know The Answer,” the brand new single from Brooklyn’s Flash Trading. The track is the second single from the band’s forthcoming debut full length, City of Refuge, and it showcases their ability to serve up a bit of variety within the guardrails of their well-established sound, which combines acid house, sophisti-pop, and ambient music. Though their latest release maintains the key beat-centric and rhythmic elements that make their songs so infectious, “Know The Answer” is a lot dreamier sounding when compared with their previous output, thus making it a perfect addition to all of your springtime playlists.

“Know The Answer” blossoms with glistening synths and frontperson Dani Laundry’s dynamic vocals from the very beginning, creating a gorgeous atmosphere that shines quite brightly. The duo stacks their expansive and sweeping analog synth work on top of a contagious rhythmic undercurrent, but it’s decidedly less driving than any of the tracks from their 2017 EP, The Golden Mile. Instead, Flash Trading creates a different kind of atmosphere on “Know The Answer,” one that’s less house inspired and instead more focused on utilizing layered harmonies, meditative woodwind-sounding electronics, and flowing melodies. It’s less “synth delirium” and instead more akin to a synth paradise. 

The video that accompanies that track takes place in North Brooklyn, following Hanchang Sohn (who also directed the video) as he strolls through the neighborhood, initially capturing shots of flowers and other greenery in his path, but things take a bit of a crazy turn as he starts to notice the various creepy looking statues that lurk in windows and on front porches.
