The Down & Outs - “White Hot Heat”

The Down & Outs - “White Hot Heat”

Today, Brooklyn’s The Down & Outs are back with another new scorcher of a track called “White Hot Heat.” Like their last release, “Jealous // Unreal,” the band is blowing up their formula again and letting their instincts guide them into some chaotic territory. It’s immediately arresting, having the effect of grabbing you by the collar and shaking you repeatedly, snapping you to attention immediately. Frontman Ray Young sings with such gusto and tenacity that he barely has time to take a breath. The guitars are extra frayed, thriving off the tension that the band creates between the track’s sweeping low ends and hurried, rhythmic beat. It’s both a whirlwind and an off the walls party packed into two minutes and forty two seconds, a track made for blurry weekends that you won’t remember.

The trio also shared a trippy, fast-paced video with lots of white flashing lights to accompany the song. It recreates the experience of seeing the band play in a dark, black and white room with short, repeated bursts of a strobe light. Watch it below!

You can also stream “White Hot Heat” via Spotify or Apple Music. Keep up with the band by liking them on Facebook and following them on Instagram.

The Down & Outs are celebrating the release of “White Hot Heat” tomorrow evening at Rubulad with Flycatcher, Couch Prints, and May Rio. Doors are at 8 pm and music starts shortly thereafter at 8:15 pm. You can snag tickets here.
