Scout Gillett - "One To Ten"

Scout Gillett’s latest single, “One To Ten,” is both reflective and hopeful. Though written and recorded prior to the current pandemic, the song mirrors the type of thought processes that fester in times of isolation, as it sifts through inner turmoil and addiction. Like her work in Shadow Year, the song is highly emotive and poetic, following a trajectory that transitions from dark to bright through tranquil vocals that swell with conviction. Gillett’s soul-searching reaches a clear turning point in “One To Ten,” as the somber sounding guitars and steady beat suddenly burst with life while she sings “one becomes ten / you only got one life / to live, to live, to live.” 

The song was born out of a series of recording sessions in December 2019 with producer Nick Kinsey at The Chicken Shack in Stanfordville, New York. Check out Scout’s recent Look At My Records live stream to learn more about these sessions and her plans for their release.
