Episode 169 of Look At My Records! features an interview with Diane Jean, the front person of Burlington, Vermont indie rock outfit Clever Girls. After a whirlwind 2020 that started with the theft of a significant amount of the band’s gear and the cancellation of several tour dates due to the pandemic, the quartet is looking to move forward in a big way in 2021 with the release of their incredible sophomore album, Constellations, which is out now via Egghunt Records. The follow up to their strong debut, “Luck,” sees Jean dissecting the myriad of feelings that accompany the process of coming out as nonbinary while simultaneously forging a new, amorphous sonic identity. Tune in to our interview to hear how the band rebounded after the challenging circumstances of early 2020, their special relationship with recording engineer Chaimes Parker, the inspiration behind several of the standout tracks on Constellations like “Stonewall” and Saturn,” and more. Plus, you’ll hear us talk about some awesome records from Beck, The Cranberries, Britney, and more. You can follow along with DJ’s record picks via the official playlist for Episode 169.

You can purchase Constellations on limited edition vinyl via Bandcamp. The album is also available on all streaming platforms. Keep up with the band by following them on Instagram and liking them on Facebook.
