Joshua Thew Shares Video For "Lose Myself"

Today, Brooklyn-based artist Joshua Thew is sharing “Lose Myself,” the lead single from his forthcoming sophomore EP, and a gorgeously cinematic accompanying video. Drawing on a series of classic vocal influences like Nina Simone and Lee Hazelwood, Thew gives listeners a velvety introduction to this next chapter in his musical journey on “Lose Myself,” as he achingly recounts a devastating heartbreak through some poignant lyrics. The song’s instrumentation and overall feel is soft and airy, but Thew’s voice definitely commands space, reaching particularly powerful heights in the choruses, where he ruminates on the inevitable conclusion of a relationship with a reluctant, but hopeful eye towards the future.

In the video, which was directed by Jake Kolton, we see scenes from this fleeting, but highly impactful relationship play out. The visual focus revolves around those small, ordinary occurrences in the everyday lives of two partners, which was a big part of Thew’s creative vision for the video: “I like to make things feel really intimate and small. I'm not trying to shock. I like to draw people into the quiet, slow, more human things that go on.”
