Tony & The Kiki Share New Single "Listen," Playing C'mon Everybody Tonight With Musarana

Last week, Tony & the Kiki shared a brand new single called “Listen” in advance of their debut live performance tonight at C’mon Everybody in Brooklyn. The eclectic and genre-melding songfollows the summer release of two seriously infectious glam-funk fusion tracks titled “Light It Up” and “Extra Express,” all of which will appear on the project’s forthcoming EP, Light It Up.

The artist behind the project,  Anthony Alfaro, shared the following on the EP: “I feel like my impulses as an artist are often very fiery, but here I feel like we found a way to counter that with a hefty amount of water energy,” Alfaro says. “What we ended up with is something like a prayer or psalm in my opinion.”

They continue to explain, “Most of the songs on this EP were truly pandemic babies… There was a lot of noise at the time and this is basically me trying to turn inward and quiet the cacophony enough to be able to whisper a prayer into the void only to find that there’s no way anyone can hear a whisper and I’m left with no choice but to do what I’ve done my whole life when I can’t be heard… scream.”
