Shybaby - "Pizza"

Shybaby - "Pizza"

If your coffee hasn’t quite kicked in yet this morning, give “Pizza” by Shybaby a spin. It’s two minutes and thirty-five seconds of pure adrenaline, packing punch after punch of high energy, punk-infused garage rock. After frontperson Grace Eire lets out a short howl, the bass, which sits pretty high in the mix, kicks in hard and fast. The band doesn’t really let up at all for the duration, pummeling through a series of jagged guitar riffs and cymbal crashes, which are punctuated by lyrics that describe a hectic, booze-fueled evening in New York City that ends over pizza and a frank inquiry: “hey, did we hook up?” The speed and tenacity through which Shybaby rips through this song nicely mirrors that chaos. While “Pizza” sounds great both through my headphones and on my stereo, I have a feeling it’s truly meant to be consumed in the live setting. Hope their next gig is soon!
