Mystery Rose - "Picture Perfect"

We’re excited to premiere “Picture Perfect,” the new single from Los Angeles’ Mystery Rose. The project of songwriter Zoe Rose has already released a series of notable singles, including the bouncy “Lovebirds on the Weekend.” Rose’s latest single is a bit more ruminative and inward-looking, as she expands beyond the pop-punk foundation of her previous releases to explore intense feelings of separation. The song’s arrangements are far-reaching and dramatic, matching the bravado of her voice, which is definitely rich and expressive in a way that’s similar to Lana Del Rey. Her voice, paired with the instrumentation, definitely has a Southern California feel to it (the arrangements are definitely Brian Wilson-esque), and the music video that Rose is sharing today to accompany the track captures some beautiful ocean scenery. Rose shared the following on the inspiration behind the song and video: 

"Picture Perfect" is a song about longing for someone and trying to seek that perfect state of mental balance given the overwhelming loneliness you feel. This has been such an isolating time and this song captures that uncomfortable feeling beautifully. Steve Hanft created the music video with those feelings in mind. He takes the listener on a sweeping journey. The use of nature combined with the ocean scenes help to tell the story of isolation and the surfers capture that sense of balance brilliantly. Each of the songs on the debut album "Socially Distant" tell a story that everyone can relate to.
